Fan Wiki An independent, community-maintained wiki for DragonSword: Awakening by Hound13 Inc. — every entry is stamped with the game version it was verified on. How we verify data

Privacy Policy

Quick answer

This DragonSword: Awakening wiki does not require accounts and does not sell personal data, but it is supported by advertising and does measure traffic: pages load Google Analytics and a third-party ad network, both of which may set cookies and may personalise what you see. The team builder and material planner still run entirely in your browser and send nothing to a server.

This policy explains what the DragonSword: Awakening Wiki does with data, and what the third parties we load — Google Analytics, our advertising network and Valve's Steam embeds — do with it. We hold very little ourselves; most of what follows is about them.

What this DragonSword: Awakening wiki does and does not do

This site is free to read and is paid for by advertising, so it is worth being blunt about what that means before the detail below.

What we do not do:

  • We do not require or offer user accounts
  • We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone
  • We do not ask for names, addresses or payment details
  • We do not build our own profile of you, and we never see your identity

What does happen when you load a page:

  • Google Analytics measures traffic and sets its own cookies
  • A third-party advertising network serves the ad slot on the page and may set its own cookies or device identifiers, which can be used to personalise the ads you are shown
  • Steam embeds and hot-linked Steam screenshots make requests to Valve's servers

We do not receive personal data from any of these three parties. We see aggregate reports from Analytics and aggregate earnings from the ad network, and nothing that identifies you.

Information collected automatically

Like effectively all websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs when you request a page: IP address, user agent, referring page, requested URL and timestamp. These are used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic understanding, and are retained for a limited period.

Analytics

This wiki uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-YHF2ZDGBX2) on every page. When a page loads, Google receives your IP address, user agent, screen and device information, the page you are on, the page that referred you, and events such as which links you follow. Google Analytics stores a randomly generated identifier in a cookie so that repeat visits within a session or across sessions can be counted as the same browser. That identifier is not tied to a name, an email address or an account we hold.

We use these reports only in aggregate: which guides are read, which search queries bring people here, which pages are broken or ignored. Google processes the data as described in Google's own privacy policy and "How Google uses information from sites that use our services". You can opt out across all sites by installing Google's official browser add-on for opting out of Google Analytics, or by blocking the script with a content blocker; the wiki works normally without it.

Advertising

This wiki displays advertising supplied by a third-party advertising network, loaded from effectivecpmnetwork.com. One ad slot appears near the bottom of the article on most pages.

We do not choose or control the individual ads. The network selects and serves them, and to do that it receives your IP address, user agent and the page the ad is on. It may set cookies or read device identifiers for frequency capping, fraud prevention, measurement, and for choosing which ads to show you — which means the advertising on this site can be behavioural or personalised, and may reflect your activity on other websites. This is a change from an earlier version of this policy, which stated that this site ran no personalised advertising; that is no longer accurate.

The network's own privacy policy governs what it collects and how long it keeps it. Your options are the ones you have across the web generally: block third-party cookies in your browser, use a content blocker, or use the ad-industry opt-out pages such as the Digital Advertising Alliance's "YourAdChoices" and the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance's "Your Online Choices". Blocking the ad slot does not break any page or tool on this wiki.

Any ad slot filled by a third party is also a route by which unwanted content can reach a page. If you ever see an ad here that is deceptive, malicious or inappropriate, please tell us with the page URL and a screenshot, and we will report it.

The tools on this site

The team builder and the material planner run entirely in your browser. The heroes you select and the material counts you enter are processed locally by JavaScript on your own device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Close the tab and the data is gone.

Third-party content from Valve

Two further kinds of third-party content appear on this wiki, and both involve Valve Corporation:

Steam store widget. Some pages embed the official Steam store widget for DragonSword: Awakening. Loading it makes a request to Valve's servers, which will see your IP address and browser information. Valve's privacy policy governs that interaction.

Steam screenshots. Official game screenshots on this site are hot-linked from Valve's content delivery network rather than copied. Displaying them makes a request to Valve's servers on the same basis.

We do not control Valve's data practices. See Valve's privacy policy for details.

Cookies

The DragonSword: Awakening Wiki sets no cookies of its own. Every cookie you may receive here comes from a third party:

  • Google Analytics sets measurement cookies (names beginning _ga) to count visits and sessions
  • The advertising network may set cookies or use similar device identifiers to select ads, cap how often you see the same one, and detect fraud
  • Steam embeds may set Valve's own cookies when a widget or image loads

Your browser settings control whether these are accepted. Blocking third-party cookies, or blocking these scripts outright, leaves every article, the team builder and the material planner fully usable. If you are in a region whose law requires consent before non-essential cookies are set and you believe this site is not meeting that standard, contact us and we will fix it.

Contact from you

If you email us through the contact page, we receive whatever you send, including your email address. We use it only to respond to your message and to credit contributions where you have asked to be credited. We do not add contributors to a mailing list.

Children

This site is a video game wiki intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Given that we do not operate accounts, in practice this generally concerns email correspondence. Contact us and we will respond.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above changes with it.

FAQ

Does this DragonSword: Awakening wiki track me?

Partly, and by third parties rather than by us. There are standard server logs, Google Analytics on every page, and a third-party ad network that may use cookies to personalise ads. We hold no account for you and build no profile of our own, and we never learn who you are.

How do I turn the tracking off?

Block third-party cookies, use a content blocker, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The wiki is designed to work identically with all of it blocked.

Do the tools send my data anywhere?

No. The team builder and material planner run entirely in your browser and transmit nothing.

Why do Steam requests appear when I load pages?

Official screenshots are hot-linked from Valve's CDN and some pages embed the official Steam store widget. Both involve requests to Valve's servers.

How do I contact you about my data?

Through the contact page.
