DragonSword: Awakening Team Builder
Quick answer
This DragonSword: Awakening team builder takes the heroes you actually own and checks whether your three-hero team covers the full chain — a setup hero to apply a status ailment, a break hero to convert it, and a burst hero to detonate it. It names the missing link rather than just ranking heroes.

Tier lists rank heroes in isolation. This tool does the thing that actually decides whether a DragonSword: Awakening team works: it checks whether your three heroes form a complete chain.
Select the heroes you own
How the builder decides
The tool applies the same rule as our best team comps guide:
| Check | What it means | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Setup covered | At least one hero applies a status ailment | Without an applicator, no Signal Skill prompt appears and the chain never starts |
| Break covered | At least one hero converts an ailment to a stagger or launch | Without it you cannot open boss damage windows |
| Burst covered | At least one hero detonates the window | Without it you open windows and waste them |
| Ailment family spread | Both physical and elemental ailments present | Bosses commonly resist one family; covering both keeps the team consistent |
| Rotation order | Setup first, break second, burst last | The order the chain has to fire in |
Methodology and current limits. Hero roles and ailment applications come from in-game skill descriptions on patch 1.0.x. Eight heroes are verified; the remaining eleven are marked data pending and are deliberately excluded from scoring rather than guessed at. Several competing sites publish contradictory ailment assignments for these heroes, and an incorrect answer here would send you into a Tower run with a broken team. Per-hero Signal Skill answer tables — exactly which ailment each hero's Signal Skill responds to — are the next data set we are verifying, and the builder will do exact prompt matching once that is complete. Corrections are welcome via contact.
Reading the result
The verdict maps onto the three DragonSword: Awakening team roles directly.
Complete chain. All three roles covered. Your team will function; from here, gear to role — Ailment Buildup Rate on your setup hero, raw damage on burst. See upgrade priority.
Missing setup. The most serious gap. You will attack, no prompt will appear, and combat will feel unresponsive. Fix this before anything else.
Missing break. Field enemies will die anyway; bosses will not. This is the gap that stalls players at Tower of Trials floor 20–30.
Missing burst. You will open windows and under-use them. The least urgent gap, and the easiest to substitute for.
Only one ailment family. Not a failure, but a consistency risk. Encounters that resist your family will take much longer.

What this builder cannot tell you
Being clear about the limits matters as much as the output. This DragonSword: Awakening team builder checks composition, and composition is only one of the three things that decide a fight.
It does not know your gear, so it cannot tell you that your setup hero is missing Ailment Buildup Rate — the affix that decides whether an ailment lands in one skill cast or two. See upgrade priority.
It does not know your Karma, so it cannot warn you that you have equipped a mismatched-element card and are silently losing part of its benefit.
And it cannot measure your execution. A complete chain still requires you to react to the Signal Skill prompt rather than the ailment gauge. A perfect composition played on a stuttering frame rate performs worse than a flawed one played cleanly.
Treat a green result here as "nothing structural is wrong with this trio", not as "this team is optimised".
FAQ
What does the DragonSword: Awakening team builder do?
It checks whether the heroes you own cover setup, break and burst, reports which link in the ailment chain is missing, and suggests a rotation order.
Why are some heroes not scored?
Eleven of the nineteen heroes do not yet have ailment data verified in-game. Rather than guess, the builder excludes them from scoring and says so.
Do I need three heroes to use it?
Two is enough to see gaps, but a DragonSword: Awakening team is three heroes, so the check is most useful with three selected.
Does the builder account for gear and Karma?
No. It checks composition only. For gear and Karma decisions see the Karma guide and upgrade priority.
